Welcome to The Self-Taught Designers Hub! I’m Lyn, a self-taught interior designer with over TWO DECADES of professional experience.
I turned my passion for “all things interior” into a successful career driven by an “I can do this” attitude and a strong belief that there are no rights or wrongs in interior design.
If you or your client love it....that’s a job done well done in my book!
My journey began over twenty years ago (OMG!) when my Hubby and I bought our first family home, shortly proceeded by the birth of our second child (fyi...one boy and one girl). Even before moving in, I had big plans for our new pad!
Roll on seven years, two extensions, a new kitchen & utility, three new bathrooms, a full property refurbishment, plus the discovery and restoration of a beautiful rose-wood floor in our living room (sorry...2nd OMG!), the project was complete!
".....you should go get a job as an interior designer”!!
Then, one evening, after the kids were asleep (along with Pooch, our golden lab, and Missy, our fluffy cat), my Hubby said to me...."You're too good at this Lyn,.....you should go get a job as an interior designer"......so, I did!
I quit my full-time job as a purchasing manager in the hospitality industry, and armed with the knowledge and experience from my own home renovation, confidently entered the interior design industry!
Two decades later, my portfolio includes comprehensive interior design services for private residential clients, independent property developers, design and build specialists, national house builders, and commercial clients across the UK and Europe.
In addition, I have created and managed retail showrooms, designed bespoke furniture, and helped hundreds of clients create their perfect living spaces.
With over 20 years of real-world experience, I have immersed myself in all facets of interior design - mastering everything from fundamental design principles and elements to advanced spatial planning and colour theory. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of transforming countless spaces into functional and beautiful environments that reflect the unique personalities and needs of each client.
Now, I'm on a mission! I am passionate about empowering aspiring designers like you with the knowledge, inspiration, and confidence needed to pursue your dreams in the exciting world of interior design.
